Why do we have an auction?
The annual auction is the biggest fundraiser for the PTA. It is an adults-only celebration and a great way to meet other parents, faculty and staff from our school in an informal setting.
Where does the money go?
The PTA grants the money to the school to be used for paras (our wonderful teacher assistants), sports equipment, technology or other needs around the school. This fundraiser helps our school remain competitive with other area schools. We use the money to fill in the gap between what is allocated by DPS and the additional experiences and resources we want available for our children to enhance their learning experience at school.
How do I buy tickets?
Can’t make it and still want to participate? You can get an online mobile bidding ticket and join in the evening’s fun, supporting our school from the comfort of your home.
Mobile Bidding: How Does it Work?
When you purchase your auction tickets you will provide your email and your cell phone number. Please make sure you bring your smart phone to the auction, this is what you will use to bid on silent auction items. All the silent auction items will be on display, but you will use your smart phone to bid on them.
- You will receive a text and email from the auction system
- Click on the provided link and it will take you to the Mobile Bidding Site
- You can PREVIEW the items until the bidding officially opens
- This site is very user friendly, no tutorial necessary and no app to download
- The mobile bidding site will become live a few days before the event and you can start bidding on items
Can’t attend the auction, but still want to bid? You can purchase a Mobile Bidding Pass online.
If you are attending the auction, your ticket price included Mobile Bidding, a bidding number for the Live Auction, heavy appetizers, an open bar and a really fun night!
What do I wear?
We know that some people love to rock a theme and others who just want to be comfortable. Feel free to interpret the theme to your liking. There will be people in jeans and people dressed up, so wear what makes you feel comfortable. We just want you to enjoy yourself!
What goes on at the auction?
When you arrive, you will check in and be given a paddle for the Live Auction. Food and beverage stations will be open when guests arrive and there will be lots of opportunities to see old friends and meet new friends. Most importantly, you will have the chance to bid on the silent auction items, class baskets, and buy-a-tix parties. You will also have the opportunity to buy tickets for the First-Pick Raffle and any other games we have going on for the evening.
The silent auction will close before the live auction begins and you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to bid on the variety of items that will be available. After the silent auction is closed, we will move on to the live auction where a professional auctioneer will auction off the larger items. Even if you are not planning on purchasing a live auction item, this is a fun part of the event and worth watching.
What kind of things will be auctioned off?
A catalog of all items will be available online the week before the auction. Look for the link in Thursday Notes, our Facebook page and via your mobile bidding ticket link. Items range from gift certificates to local restaurants, tickets to local attractions and fun stuff like sports memorabilia and neon beer signs. There is something for everyone! Take the time to review the catalog and coordinate big purchases, like the mountain vacation home stays with your friends so you can win big!
What is a buy-a-tix party?
These are parties or events that you buy admission to through buy-a-tix for the party at the auction. The events are hosted by teachers and school families and are a lot of fun! Examples of buy-a-tix parties are class movie nights, workshops for kids and parties for adults. When the online catalog comes out, make sure to check out these events as they often fill up fast!
What are the class baskets?
Each class is responsible for putting together a themed basket to auction off on the night of the event. This allows families to contribute smaller items that can be combined into a single, larger package. Each class picks their own theme and the results are always amazing!
Is this going to cost me a ton of money?
That is up to you! This is an opportunity to raise money for Bill Roberts in a fun and social way. We encourage people to bid on items, as all of the money raised through the auction will be donated back to school. You can spend a small amount of money and purchase a spot at your child’s class movie night or you can spend larger amounts and take home any number of cool things. Whatever your budget, there is something there for you!
