The Garden Committee had fun making fresh garden salsa with 11 classes this harvest season! We take every opportunity to make our school garden a hands-on exploratory classroom for our students.
PROUD of our Garden!
Bill Roberts has a flourishing vegetable garden that is used in curriculum across grade-levels, allowing our teachers to bring more science and community building lessons into the classrooms.
We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a $2,000 grant from Fuel Up To Play 60, a partnership between the Denver Broncos and Western Dairy Association!
Coaches Nadon and Bellis, Chef Maggie O’Toole and Principal Lea took six middle school ambassadors to Mile High Stadium for the “Fuel Greatness” Touchdown Recognition event. As a Touchdown School, the highest level available, we were able to present a proposal for a healthy school initiative.
Presenters Christian Grover (7th), Anna Witzel (6th), and Sasha Tognetti (6th) did a great job along with Ben Whitney (7th), Davion Johnson (8th) and Andrew McGrath (8th). They shared our proposal, created by Chef Maggie, to implement a program where middle school leaders will go into elementary classrooms and teach our younger students what it means to eat healthy foods through demos and mini classes.
A panel of judges (including Bronco Darian Stewart!) awarded our team 2nd place!!
